    RECOMMENDED MEDICATIONS

Daraprim 25 mg once weekly, start 1 week before arrival in Kalimantan, take 8 weeks after leaving. (Don't forget, you must continue for 8 weeks after leaving to irradicate residual malaria in your blood.) Note: the CDC does not currently recommend daraprim as it is ineffective in most places. However, we have 40 years of experience in our setting, and have found that it is still quite effective.

Antidiarrheal medicine - loperamide 2 mg tabs, one every diarrheal episode up to 3 tabs in 24 hours. Available over the counter.

Ciprofloxacin 500 mg -32 doses. One tab 3 times daily for 3 days if you get "Montezuma's revenge".

Dramamine tabs: one as needed for nausea and vomiting.

    Pain: Tylenol or Ibuprofen
