Interested in volunteering to serve at Bethesda Hospital?

Areas of Service:   Medical

  General

Some goals for volunteers to consider:

  • To assist in providing compassionate care to the Indonesian people in the name of Jesus.
  • To learn about another culture and learn to respect and understand its differences and rich traditions.
  • To teach career Indonesian hospital staff more about their matching area of expertise.
  • General guidelines for volunteering:

  • The volunteer will be expected to pay for all travel expenses (approximately $1500 round trip from LA to Pontianak, as of December 2005)
  • The volunteer is expected to pay for daily living expenses ($10-$15/day for food, lodging, laundry).
  • The volunteer should be sensitive and prepared to adapt to the cultural and and community norms of behavior, dress, gender relationships, and speech.
  • Volunteers who plan to stay longer than 4 weeks should be prepared to learn some Indonesian, and may need to be processed through WorldVenture (formerly CBInternational) to be designated as an official short term mission volunteer.
